I appreciate that the board is taking the time to get things up to date. This is something that needs to be done from time to time. Most of these changes are straight forward and common sense. My only suggestion is that Article VI, Section 3 be more specific about how members should be contacted. I believe the intent is probably for members to be contacted via email, but the current proposal is too vague and could be interpreted in a way that would not provide adequate notice (i.e., a newspaper notice). To take it a step further, maybe it should also be stated that each member is solely responsible to keep KAM apprised of their email address. Doing so could also protect any future board members from accusations of not fulfilling their duties.
Also, for what it's worth - the Constitution contains several references about KAM's purpose being in support of land information management. I believe that KAM has evolved beyond land information management to include many other fields/uses of mapping and GIS as well. For instance, 911 is a prime use right now which uses land information but isn't used for it's management. Same for emergency management. Maybe that specific language needs to be more vague to allow KAM to grow as it needs without being limited by the Constitution.
Regarding Scott's comments, I plan to propose the following two amendments to the proposed change to Article VI Section 3 in tomorrow's special meeting:
1. Instead of deleting "by mail" replace it with "by email" to clarify the primary method of communication that the board will use to notify members of meetings.
2. Add the following sentence: "All members shall be responsible for keeping their email address current in order to remain in good standing with the Association."
