Spring into Success: Plan Your Annual Project for a KAM Award!

As we welcome spring, it's the perfect time to start thinking about annual projects that could qualify for a KAM Award. Whether you're working on an innovative initiative, a community-driven project, or a creative endeavor, now is the time to plan with recognition in mind.

The KAM Awards celebrate excellence, impact, and dedication, making them a great opportunity to showcase your hard work. If you or your team are working on something that aligns with the values of the award, consider how you can take it to the next level this summer.

Here’s how you can prepare:

  1. Identify Eligible Projects – Look at ongoing or upcoming projects that could meet the award criteria.

  2. Set Clear Goals – Define success metrics and ensure your project has measurable outcomes.

  3. Document Your Work – Keep track of milestones, progress, and impact to make a compelling nomination.

  4. Collaborate & Network – Engage with colleagues, mentors, or community members to strengthen your project's impact.

  5. Spread the Word – Encourage others to participate and nominate their projects as well!

Let’s make this summer one of innovation and achievement. Start planning now, and don’t forget to share your project ideas with others who might also be interested in applying. Stay tuned for nomination details!

  • George Donatello Lifetime Achievement Award

Attention Surveyors and Engineers: KS SB 09 Brings Key Changes to PLSS Section Corner Filing!

KS SB 09 is a new Senate bill that updates the rules for filing PLSS section corners with counties and the state historical society. The main change is that the deadline for filing survey reports is extended from 30 days to 90 days. It also clarifies where to file reports if there’s no county surveyor or engineer, something that KSA 58-2011 didn’t cover. So, it’s a bit more flexible and comprehensive!

Stay Connected and Get Involved!

Get ready for an exciting season with KAM! Plan your project, stay informed, and join us in celebrating geospatial innovation. Check the links for details—we can’t wait to see your contributions!

Best regards,
The KAM Communications Committee
