Kansas Association of Mappers Code of Conduct Policy

The Kansas Association of Mappers (KAM) is committed to fostering a professional, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members and participants. This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for behavior at all KAM events, meetings, conferences, and online communications. By participating in KAM activities, participants (KAM members and non-members) agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.

1. Respectful Behavior

All participants are expected to treat others with respect, kindness, and professionalism. Discrimination, harassment, bullying, or any other form of disrespectful behavior is unacceptable. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Discriminatory comments or actions based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, religion, age, or any other personal characteristic.
  • Verbal or physical harassment or intimidation.
  • Offensive jokes, comments, or language that is harmful or offensive to others.

2. Inclusivity

We strive to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for everyone. Participants should:

  • Be mindful of language that is inclusive and respectful of diverse groups.
  • Avoid behavior or comments that could exclude or marginalize individuals based on their background, identity, or experience.

3. Professionalism

Participants are expected to demonstrate the highest level of professionalism in all interactions. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Honest and ethical behavior in all aspects of work and communication.
  • Maintaining confidentiality where necessary.
  • Protecting the professional reputation of other participants who subscribe to and abide by this Code of Conduct Policy.

4. Collaboration and Teamwork

We encourage collaboration and the exchange of ideas in a constructive manner. Members are expected to:

  • Listen respectfully to the views and opinions of others.
  • Provide constructive feedback and avoid disparaging comments.
  • Work towards finding solutions to challenges and conflicts that arise, with the goal of fostering a positive and productive atmosphere.

5. Respect for Intellectual Property

Participants must respect the intellectual property rights of others. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Giving appropriate credit for work that is not your own.
  • Not using or distributing others’ materials or data without permission.

6. Safety and Well-Being

The safety and well-being of all participants is a top priority. Any activity that could potentially harm the physical, mental, or emotional health of others should be avoided. Participants should report any unsafe or inappropriate behavior immediately to event organizers or KAM leadership.

7. Reporting Violations

If you witness or experience any violation of this Code of Conduct, please report the incident to KAM leadership. Reports will be handled in a confidential and timely manner. Any participant found in violation of this Code of Conduct may be subject to consequences, including removal from KAM events, suspension, or expulsion from the organization.

8. Accountability

All participants are responsible for upholding the standards of this Code of Conduct. We believe in accountability at all levels and encourage individuals to hold each other accountable to maintain a respectful and professional community.

By registering for and participating in any event hosted by the Kansas Association of Mappers (KAM), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. Your participation signifies your commitment to maintaining a respectful, professional, and inclusive environment at all times.
