Hello everyone,
I wanted to see when a good time to take my KM designation test would be. I just passed the IAAO 600 course and I have close to 7 years of general GIS City mapping experience.
I just didn't know if waiting too long after taking the 600 class would hurt in any way, as I don't use that type of information in my general daily GIS duties.
I feel like with what is posted here, I would be able to pass the KM designation and wanted to get that scheduled sometime if other Designees thought I was in a good spot, education wise.
Thanks in advance!
I took my designation exam as close to finishing 600 & 601 as I could because I worried I would forget. I found the KM exam fairly easy. PKM not so much, the old school mapping we newer people have never experienced got me. I know if you can find a proctor, you can schedule an exam. They are usually done at the KAM Conference since everyone involved in the process is already there together.
I took the KGISD exam last year, and it was the same day as the pre-conference classes. So that would be Tuesday, October 22nd this year.
I would advise taking the class while the knowledge is fresh, because I failed on my first attempted.
Yeah, I was hoping to take it before the Conference since the knowledge is here right now. I can restudy before the conference though. I just don't use that information much at all in my area with the City. GIS mapping for sure, but the Tax Assessing and Platting are not something I do as our County handles everything.
Thanks! I will see about getting someone to give me the exam at that conference.
