Director (Two-Year Term)

Travis Brister

My name is Travis Brister, and I have served the past two years as a Director with KAM. During this time, I’ve enjoyed working with other members to support GIS professionals across the state and to help keep our organization moving forward.

I work for the City of Winfield, where I use GIS tools like Field Maps Designer and dashboards to support a variety of projects, including a tree inventory that has helped streamline how our community manages and shares information. My focus is on making mapping and data tools practical and useful for both staff and residents.

I look forward to the potential opportunity to continue serving on the KAM Board, to share ideas, and to learn from others in the organization.

President-Elect (3-year term)

Katie has been with the KWO since 2015. At the KWO, Katie focuses on utilizing GIS in a variety of ways to help make water knowledge at the state level more understandable for the public. She has served as a Director on the Board for the last two years.

Secretary (1-year term)

Cody Erwin

Cody Erwin holds a Master of Science in Geographic Information Science from Kent State University and a Bachelor of Science in Geoscience from Fort Hays State University. As the very first GIS Administrator for the City of Haysville, Kansas, Cody has spent nearly four years building the GIS and successfully implementing it across most of the city's departments. Cody is proud to be part of the collaborative and supportive Kansas GIS community and is dedicated to helping it grow and thrive.

Treasurer

Marie Dawes

I am the Mapping Technician for the Department of Public Works in Pottawatomie County. I’ve been doing this work, which involves managing and tracking asset data and integrating that with our asset management software, for the past two years. I took a circuitous path to this career, having started my professional life as a structural engineer. (I have a degree in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State). After doing that for nearly twenty years I took a break to raise twins. A series of happy accidents led me to this new career, which I’ve been learning from the ground up. I could not be happier that I stumbled upon a field that satisfies my desire for order but tendency towards chaos! In my free time I enjoy motorcycling and camping with my partner, spending time with my adult kids & family, bird watching, and sewing.

Director (1-year term)

Mitch Braget

Mitch Braget is the GIS Coordinator for the City of Leavenworth, where he has worked since 2020. Previously, Mitch worked for the International Water Institute in Fargo, ND as a GIS Technician hydroconditioning DEMs. He received his Masters of Geography from Kansas State, which focused on Remote Sensing of flooded wetlands. In Leavenworth, Mitch is increasing web capabilities and just maybe recruiting field crews to update some key fields for their data. Experience Builder is the next project, then Python, then Arcade, then API for Javascript, then a time machine. An avid Twins and Vikings fan, surely this is the year…

Sherri Chaturvedi

Sherri Chaturvedi has worked in GIS for over 10 years. She is currently a GIS Analyst at the Kansas Department of Labor (KDOL), beginning in May 2022. As KDOL’s first ever dedicated GIS Analyst, she is establishing their GIS program and assisting multiple divisions and programs within the agency to update their systems using GIS based technology. Previously, she worked almost 7 years at the Kansas Historical Society managing the GIS for the Cultural Resources Division. She lives in Topeka with her husband and orange kitty, Moonriver and likes spending her free time birding, reading, or listening to as many podcasts as humanly possible. Sherri has been a member of KAM for several years and served on both the Education and Program committees. She has been on the Board of Directors since May of this year and hopes to be able to continue as a director to help fellow mappers continue to learn and advance within the industry.
